Free SMS to US Mobile Phones from Your GMail

Gmail Labs recently added new feature Tasks in Gmail, today Gmail Labs added another feature in Gmail to send free sms to US mobile phones from your Gmail account.


To enable this feature go to Gmail labs settings find out Text Messaging (SMS) in Chat and enable this option.


NanoTechnology, Key Driving Force In India's Future

Programmes like 'Nano for the Young', RICH and YESSS will be key highlights of the 2nd Bangalore Nano 2008 event.

Thursday, December 11, 2008: The stage is set for the 2nd Bangalore Nano 2008 event to be held at the Grand Ashok Hotel, Bengaluru. The technical sessions have been scheduled for 11 and 12 December 2008, and the inaugural and proclamation of Bangalore Nano Declaration and presentation of 2nd Bangalore Nano National Award will be held on 13 December 2008 at the same venue. Indian VP Mohammad Hamid Ansari will be the chief guest and he will also give away the Bangalore Nano National Award. The 2nd edition of Bangalore Nano will offer a clear vision of the nanotechnology research, applications and potential through an international conference, exhibition, children's programme – 'Nano for the Young', RICH and YESSS programmes.The opening plenary session on 11 December 2008 will be addressed by Prof. C N R Rao, chairman Science Advisory Council to the Prime Minister. Highlight lectures and scientific presentations will be delivered by nanotech experts like Prof. Pulickel M. Ajayan, Rice University, Prof. Dipankar Chakravorty, Indian Association for The Cultivation of Science, Prof. Dhirendra Bahadur, IIT Bombay, Jaideep Raje, Lux Research Inc, Prof. Nikhil A. Koratkar, Rensselear Polytechnic Institute, Dr Arthur J Carty, University of Waterloo, Dr Ajay Godara, NANOCYL SA, Dr Ajit Sapre, Reliance Industries, etc.YESSS and RICH will be a highlight of the 2nd edition of Bangalore Nano 2008. The YESSS and RICH programmes are being done in association with Indian Venture Capital Association (IVCA). This will also be the second edition of Research Industry Collaboration Hub (RICH) – a platform to showcase innovative and novel research ideas to seek partnership and commercialisation opportunities to investor and industry professionals. RICH brings together researchers in the filed of nanotechnology face-to-face with the industry as well as investors. Several IVCA members, independent VCs and investment firms will be attending the programme.The YESSS (Young Entrepreneurs Startups in Soaring Spirits) programme encourages budding entrepreneurs with business ideas to meet industry professionals and VCs face-to-face for business interactions. Start-ups and incubating companies can present their business plans to scale up their operations by forging alliances with people who see value in the same. Both the programmes are aimed at giving fillip to nanotech-based industry in India.Various topics will be addressed in the 2nd Bangalore Nano 2008; these will include - Nano Biotechnology Health and Pharma industry and manufacturing, Nano food and agriculture, Chemicals and Nano materials, ICT and Electronics Energy, Environment and Greentech. A panel discussion will also be held on Nano Vision and Nano Mission. A special programme for children 'Nano for the Young' is being organised on 12 December 2008. The 2nd Bangalore Nano 2008 will feature a poster session, wherein young scientists and researchers will be given the opportunity to share their innovations and research in nanoscience and nanotechnology with the industry, research institutes and venture capitalists. About 75 posters from IITs, NITs, Michigan Technological University, CSIR, NCBS, IISc, JNCASR, AIIMS, etc. will be presented during the event.

With MTNL setting up the country’s first 3G network in Delhi tomorrow, India will now join the elite club of countries that have 3G mobile services.Wednesday, December 10, 2008: State-owned Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (MTNL) will launch 3G mobile services in Delhi tomorrow -- thus putting India on the global 3G map. Dr Manmohan Singh, India's Prime Minister, is expected to launch the 3G services during the Indian Telecom Summit in New Delhi.The Department of Telecommunications (DoT), India had allotted 3G and WiMax spectrum both to BSNL and MTNL in the month of September 2008 with a view to ensure early rollout of the 3G and WiMax services in the country. While MTNL will be launching services on 11 December 2008 in Delhi, BSNL is likely to launch its services in January 2009 in Chennai. The services are expected to be launched by MTNL in Mumbai too soon.Initially, MTNL will be providing 3G services without any additional charge to its existing premium subscribers for a period of two months on a trial basis. MTNL will offer basic 3G services, including high-speed Internet, audio and video, and streaming in addition to live television channels on mobile phones.The launch of 3G services in India will be a techie’s dream come true. It allows high-speed mobile broadband access at a speed of more than 386 kbps. 3G technology enables you to work out of your mobile instrument. It becomes your work station with high-speed bandwidth enabling video downloads and other critical functions.
